The Questions Your Not Asking About Your New Business Idea
I ran across an interesting article the other day, it spoke about the ideas of business opportunities all around us. I made me think about how I created my businesses in the past and how they always seemed to fail.
Many people believe that if they have an new business idea that they are going to make a lot of money. You may have the best new business idea in the world but if no one knows about your business it isn’t going to provide you with any revenue. I wrote a article recently on my blog TheModernYou.com talking about marketing for your target market. But before you even start marketing you need to research your new business ideas.
Here are some very useful questions you need to ask yourself when starting a new business idea
- What skills do you posses that you can market to others?
- Interpret your skills to your target market For Example: If your skill is in taking artistic photos you want to target your market by using the target markets language. This would look something like this in your email or website ‘Providing Expert Professional Photography Sessions for you and your family.’
- Testing Your Target Market
- Learning about your target market is very important. Asking your friends, family, co-workers about your business is critical to your success.
Consider asking these questions:
- Have you ever paid for _________ services?
- If you don’t mind… how do you think your budget would work with these services?
- Have you ever thought about hiring ______ for your problem?
- What is your biggest complaint for these services that you have tried in the past? Do you think there could be a solution for those companies that they didn’t take the time to complete, if so what is the solution?
- What will your Target Market expect from you?
- If you are going to market your skills in photography you are going to need examples of your work (aka portfolio) of different families that you have photographed in the past. Remember they can be your family members as well if that is your target market.
There are many questions that are going to be valuable to your business, are you asking the right ones?
